No masks
From the Superintendent's Desk
February 27, 2022
Dear Roy-Hart Community:
As you may be aware, the state-wide mask mandate for schools in New York State will be lifted by Governor Hochul on Wednesday, March 2, 2022. Therefore, effective Wednesday, the wearing of masks will no longer be required in our schools or at school-related functions. However, we do encourage anyone with any ongoing health concerns, whether for themselves or others, to continue wearing a mask and we assure you that your choice to do so will not result in being ostracized, harassed or excluded from any activity, opportunity or experience provided by the District.
The lifting of the mask mandate will not change our daily practices with regards to maintaining a safe, hygienic environment for our students and staff. In addition, the lifting of the mask mandate does not change our isolation or quarantining/test-to-stay protocols for students and staff who test positive for COVID, are exposed to a COVID positive individual or who exhibit COVID-like symptoms. The weekly testing of staff will continue until we receive guidance from the Department of Health and Department of Education.
I continue to encourage everyone to practice good personal health and hygiene practices, such as covering your nose and mouth when sneezing or coughing, washing your hands frequently and sanitizing as appropriate. I believe that there will continue to be updates in the days and weeks to come and encourage you to monitor the District website for more information.
Sincerely,
Dr. Hank Stopinski
Superintendent of Schools
