The deceased driver involved in the motor vehicle accident which
occurred on Mill Road on October 29, 2020 at 13:51 Hours, has been
identified as 55 year-old Christopher L. Mahar of Gasport, New York.
Investigation by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office Accident
Investigation Unit into the matter is continuing.
Initial
investigation by Deputies at the scene revealed that a 2011 Honda was traveling
northeast on Mill Road when it crossed the center line and entered the
southwest bound lane. The vehicle continued across the southwest bound lane and
exited the roadway's edge. The vehicle then struck an earthen embankment at
which point it overturned. The vehicle continued a short distance across the
grass where it ultimately came to rest against a stand of trees. The driver of
the vehicle succumbed to injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
