The Superintendent's message about the new principal...
As you
are aware, over the past two months, the District has been involved in
the search and selection of our next Middle School Principal. The
process began by identifying those qualities most desired in a school
leader. Six focus groups were held and a synthesis of the information
gathered was used to post the position. Over fifty people contributed
to the process of the selection, representing our administration, teachers,
support staff and community partners. Twenty applicants expressed
interest and six were formally interviewed for the position by the
District leadership team. From there, two finalists were determined and
interviewed by students, support staff, teachers, a community group and
the Board of Education.
I
am pleased to share that on the evening of February 1, our Board of
Education accepted my recommendation to appoint Ms. Danielle Alterio as
our new Middle School Principal. Ms. Alterio brings many years of
experience as a classroom teacher, assistant principal and active member
of her school community. A formal introduction to the school and
community will take place later this month. It is expected that Ms.
Alterio will begin her new position in the District on Monday, February
25.
