PLEA DEAL SOUGHT IN ATTEMPTED SUFFOCATION

The Buffalo News reported the following earlier this week...


A pre-indictment plea deal appears possible in the case of Deborah A. Kozody, a Royalton resident charged with attempted murder in an alleged effort to suffocate her mother.

(Niagara County Judge Matthew J.) Murphy adjourned the case to May 7 for the possible plea.

Kozody, 49, was arrested after the alleged Jan. 26 incident in her Royalton Center Road home. At the time, Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Steven C. Preisch called it “a very sad case of elderly abuse in an assisted-living situation.” The victim was hurt but not hospitalized.
