Gasport was left powerless on Friday night due to an accident around 6:00 PM. A car struck a pole on Telegraph Road in front of Silsby's Farm in the village's west end. Luckily no one was hurt, but damage was significant. One pole was completely sheered while another one down the street snapped at the top because of the domino effect. National Grid is responding at press time and it is unknown when power will be restored. Due to damage this may be a lengthy outage.
