Hartland accident and outage

Hartland, NY - On March 8th, 2019, at 1123 hours, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office responded to the intersection of Ridge and Hosmer Roads for a vehicle that struck a utility pole.

Investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Ridge Road when it exited the roadway, continuing eastbound through a yard on the south side of the roadway. The vehicle then struck and severed a utility pole causing a loss of power in the immediate area. The driver, who was the lone occupant, was transported to ECMC by ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Initial investigation into the incident suggested that it was caused by a medical issue suffered by the driver.

At this time, Ridge Road has been reopened and National Grid is working to restore power in the area. Investigation by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office into the incident is continuing.
