ZION FOOD PANTRY & CLOTHING CLOSET




In an economy as rough as ours -- the unemployment rate in Niagara County is 9.4% and the national economy shrunk in the fourth quarter of 2012 -- there are more people in need than ever before.

The youth group at Zion Lutheran Church recognizes the plight of the affected families and wants to do something about it. So, under their management, the Church will bring to the community a much-needed food pantry and clothing closet. 

It will go into service on April 6th, 2013 and will serve Gasport and the adjoining communities.

The pantry will be open the first Saturday of each month from 10:00am – noon

Eligibility: Must meet income guidelines as established annually by the Food Bank of WNY

Fee: None

Intake: On the initial visit, please bring the following:

• ID for all people in the household
• Proof of residency (utility bill, landlord statement, etc)
• And any of the following will be accepted for proof of income (all income must be disclosed):
o DSS client ID card
o 1040 forms
o Pay check stub
o Medicaid or Food Stamp cards
o Pension retirement cards or statements
o WIC card
o Unemployment Insurance paperwork

Sign In Sheet. Intake records will be updated annually

Services: Distribute a 3-day supply of food one time per month and in extraordinary emergency situations. Additional special distributions of holiday food baskets at Christmas time. The clothing closet distributes new and gently-used clothing for those in need.

Funded by: Parishioner donations, people in the community, local churches and businesses
