The Middleport Free Library was allotted $11,174 in the NY State budget for an energy-efficient furnace, air conditioners, doors and windows. The funds come through the construction grants program within the Office of New York State Library within the state Education Department, funded by a $14 million capital fund appropriation in the state budget for construction and renovation. A total of $14 million in grants were awarded for projects at public library and library system buildings statewide.
