Bill Arnold, Chairman of the Middleport Community Input Group sent along this message...
During a discussion with an EPA representative, I was informed that the government agencies with oversight of FMC's arsenic remediation project in Middleport have received numerous comments concerning the Corrective Measure Action Unit (CAMU) with about 95% of them positive. The CAMU would be the permanent storage site for all soils removed from residential yards, school yards, Culvert 105 and the Jeddo Creek tributary south of Pearson Rd.
It is important for interested parties who are not in favor of a CAMU near the Middleport school's athletic fields to send comments to the Agencies stressing their disapproval. Comments should be sent to:
Mr. Matt Mortifolio
NYS Dept of Environmental Conservation
626 Broadway
Albany, NY 12233
or E-mail mjmortef@gw.dec.state.ny.us
Comments must be submitted by July 1st.
If we do not speak in numbers, we very well could end up with this CAMU behind the bleachers of the high school football field.
